I’ve been meaning to do this for some time now, but I’m finally here…..my first ever blog!!
So who am I and why have I finally decided to start blogging?
Well I’m a little bit of everything really – father, husband, coach, mentor, sports enthusiast, businessman, and if you listen to my wife long enough…………..most days a pain in the ass!! So why did I decide to start blogging then? Well, as well as being many things in life I’ve a number of passions that stretch across all my life roles.
I’m passionate about performance improvement in every aspect of our lives; people, individuals, processes, technology, business, sporting achievements. And through this passion I work with individuals and teams in the business and sporting communities facilitating their progress from point A (where they are now) to point B and beyond. I must stress at this stage that whilst I talk about continuous improvement I don’t chase excellence, for excellence doesn’t exist.
I have a firm belief that every single person on this planet, and I mean everyone, has an inherent desire to be better than they are. Everyone you say? Yes that’s right, everyone. From the habitual criminal right the way through to CEOs and Olympic champions. The key difference is that some people do something about their desires whilst others wait for somebody else to do something about it for them. I guess that’s the difference between players and spectators, to use a sporting analogy. Sporting analogies are something I will use a lot of in my future blogs, can’t help it when you’re a huge sports fan.
My aim in life, my vision, is to make the world a better place. And I endeavour to do this every day, in whatever small ways I can. One little action every day, no matter how small, can help make this vision a reality.
As a starting point I wanted to keep this first blog relatively brief, just to give you a snapshot of what I’m about, and to give you a little taster of what’s to come in future. I’ll be writing pretty regularly now I’ve finally put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard. Some of the topics I’m planning to cover include – Why do some people hate their jobs? Why do some companies tolerate and even encourage, a dreadful customer experience? Why do people do what they do in life?
I also encourage anyone reading this to get involved, I’d love your feedback and general comments, even suggestions for future topics.
Anyway, it’s nice to meet you all, I feel a sense of relief that I’m finally here.
